The idea of this website was conceived at sea: someone thought that it was absolutely necessary to show pictures from our voyage to Norway on the Internet. This could, however, be a website like many others; therefore, instead of describing our voyage I decided to concentrate on the marine navigation, the lights of sea ships etc.

Dear navigator and sailor, I hope that the following chapters of my site will help you to find the right position on the map during your sea voyages. I hope that you will learn how to calculate the ship's head for the steersman and how to put this information in a log-book without annoying the ship's captain.

I would also like to share my experience and show that navigation is accessible to anyone. Let the information presented here serve all people who have passion for sailing and navigation - not only of the "light" navigation with the GPS, but also the navigation with a sextant (should you like to try it!).
